MEP Assistant Superintendent

The MEP Assistant Superintendent works directly with the project MEP Superintendent to conduct field inspections, provide progress updates, assist with document control, perform equipment inspections, coordinate vendors, and support the equipment startup and commissioning process. This role focuses on ensuring project quality, safety, and on-time delivery while contributing to the development of future MEP construction and management careers.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain adherence to safety standards and company policies.
  • Assist bidding for mechanical and electrical trades.
  • Ensure required documentation is filed and up‑to‑date.
  • Assist in conducting project meetings and recording minutes.
  • Collaborate with the project superintendent and site operations team throughout the life of the project.
  • Assist in developing an MEP critical path schedule.
  • Update project schedule and establish overall project logistics.
  • Coordinate and track critical‑path construction and startup activities.
  • Review mechanical and electrical submittals.
  • Track and coordinate equipment deliveries.
  • Provide conflict resolution support for MEP issues under the direction of the MEP Manager.
  • Coordinate and manage quality control processes for MEP systems construction.
  • Manage startup and pre‑testing of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Assist coordinating and supporting third‑party commissioning activities.
  • Manage commissioning documentation.
  • Assist in managing the closeout process.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma required; four‑year degree preferred with a concentration in construction, engineering, or business.
  • 2–5 years of experience in commercial construction, including experience with a commercial general contractor.
  • Passion for the construction industry.
  • Ability to recognize and achieve quality.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership skills, able to build and lead a team.
  • Aptitude for problem solving.
  • Capacity to work independently.
  • Motivated self‑starter.
  • Effective use of computer and software technology in performance of duties.
  • Willingness to travel.
