Job Summary
Balfour Beatty Construction seeks a Senior Project Engineer to work on healthcare‑related projects with our team in Fort Worth, TX, which serves as a branch of our Dallas‑based Large Projects Group. The SPE will assist the Project Manager with the planning and daily execution of construction projects, manage schedule and budget, coordinate submittal approvals, oversee material deliveries, and monitor subcontractor compliance.
All work is in the DFW market, with zero overnight travel.
- Project Financial Responsibilities: Assist project management by proactively managing the project budget, controlling expenses, administering owner and subcontractor billings, identifying work not covered by subcontractor scope and ensuring success of office support functions related to overall cost and scheduled completion.
- Preconstruction Services: Establish procedures for controlling contract drawings, initiate job‑management system setup, assist with scopes of work and bid package development, solicit subcontractors and suppliers, and participate in constructability reviews.
- Project Start‑up and Scheduling: Assist in the development of the site utilization plan, review and coordinate the Loss Prevention and Quality Control Program, manage pre‑work subcontractor orientation meetings, and maintain a submittal log coordinating submittals and drawings with subcontractors and the Superintendent.
- Project Administration, Coordination and Close‑out: Proactively administer and process all submittal data and shop drawings to expedite project schedules, conduct preconstruction meetings, serve as onsite quality manager verifying subcontractor deliveries, attend and participate in meetings with architects/engineers and owner representatives, prepare progress reports and meeting minutes, distribute change documents, coordinate changes and directives, update “as‑built” drawings, and submit owner‑required close‑out documents.
- Promote Customer Relations: Build effective relationships with customers, design team, subcontractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect company core values and exceed customer expectations; actively participate in industry, client, and community relations to enhance company image.

- Perform Other Related Duties as Needed.
- B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field with 2 to 4 years of experience preferred, or 5 to 6 years of progressive construction‑related trade experience.
- Demonstrates leadership skills with the ability and willingness to face challenges, direct others, and effectively address conflict.
- Creates, manages, and/or revises schedules and related assignments based on key priorities of assigned projects, considering work–life balance for self and others.
- Organizes people, tools, and equipment and plans/ manages multiple activities to achieve desired results.
- Makes decisions under tight deadlines, sometimes with incomplete information.
- Exhibits commitment to quality by evaluating project‑related processes, making necessary changes, using customer input to improve, and meeting or exceeding internal and external customer expectations with integrity and constant focus on customer requirements.
