The Assistant Project Manager (APM) plays a key role in supporting the successful delivery of construction projects from pre‑construction through closeout. Working alongside the Project Manager, this position assists in coordinating schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and documentation while helping ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

This role also provides the opportunity to take ownership of smaller projects with oversight, offering a clear path for growth into a Project Manager position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing, updating, and maintaining project schedules and budgets
  • Manage smaller‑scale projects independently with oversight, including coordination of subcontractors, scheduling, budgeting, and client communication
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships to support long‑term partnerships and repeat business
  • Help manage client expectations and ensure alignment with project scope, schedule, and deliverables
  • Coordinate subcontractors and vendors, tracking performance, progress, and material deliveries
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, and change orders throughout the project lifecycle
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing contracts, purchase orders, and scopes of work
  • Schedule and attend project meetings; document and distribute meeting minutes and action items
  • Monitor job site progress and support quality control and safety compliance efforts
  • Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, including reports, logs, and photos
  • Act as a liaison between field teams, office staff, and clients to ensure clear communication
  • Support project closeout, including punch list coordination and final documentation
  • Proactively identify potential issues and assist in implementing solutions to keep projects on track
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction in the role of Assistant Project Manager
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Experience with construction management software such as Procore (preferred)
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam or similar tools (a plus)
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred
Working Conditions
  • Split between office and active construction job sites
  • Occasional travel to project locations as required
