The Estimator I is responsible for aiding the project lead estimator during the bid process. Assists in preparing quantity take-offs on projects, obtaining price estimates and bids from subcontractors and material vendors, and with budgets and bids by collaborating with the preconstruction team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Identify scope items within plans and specifications.
- Inform and update preconstruction team about estimate progress and or challenges.
- Supports preconstruction team with all items required to submit bids.
- Organize, review, and analyze subcontractor proposals to identify any scope inconsistencies.
- Performs quantity takeoffs across multiple trades in preparation for bid and budget submission.
- Assist project team with required documentation for job turn-over meetings.
- Assists with preparing Job Turn-Over meeting scheduled by the preconstruction team.
- Attends pre-bid meetings and takes pictures and notes of existing site and building conditions.
- Inform precon team of current conditions and project challenges.
- Assists with preparing preconstruction strategy meetings to learn estimate and bidding processes.
- Maintain and update cost data base.
- Establish and demonstrates skills and knowledge for advancement to estimator II position.
- Performs other position appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional, and courteous manner.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and vendor partners.
- General knowledge of labor and material costs, ability to read, interpret and make quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications.
- General knowledge of construction procedures.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Able to clearly document and record information.
- Strong attention to detail is required.
- Effective time management in working with timelines and deadlines.
- The ability to perform a variety of tasks simultaneously and an accurate and timely manner.
- Considerable skill in problem solving, conflict resolution, and managing confidential information/situations.
- Establish and demonstrates skills and knowledge for advancement to estimator II position.
- Bachelor's or 4 additional years of relevant experience
- 2 years of relevant experience
- Required skills needed but not limited to the following:
- Strong math ability.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Knowledge of estimating software or database management preferred

- The employee must be able to stand and/or walk at least eight hours per day.
- The employee must be able to work and adapt to outside temperature fluctuations such as the heat of the summer and the cold of the winter months.
- Reliable, predictable attendance at the scheduled site/office.
- Ability to work in a stressful environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
