Senior Preconstruction Manager Job Description
A Senior Preconstruction Manager is responsible for leading and managing multiple projects, working with a team of preconstruction managers and shared team resources to deliver exceptional deliverables to our clients. They will handle the day‑to‑day execution of preconstruction services from the initial program design phase through the final construction documents, including feasibility studies, budget estimates, comparative studies, value engineering, and presentations to both internal and external clients.
Education/ Years of Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field (preferred)
- At least seven (7) years of related commercial construction work experience
- Experience as a lead preconstruction manager on several projects
- Experience leading and coaching others
This position reports to the Vice President of Preconstruction or Preconstruction Executive. It directly supervises preconstruction managers, assistant managers, and project engineers, and provides full services to clients and operations with minimal oversight.
Skills / Abilities- Microsoft Office Suite, with high proficiency in Excel and On‑Screen Take‑off (OST)
- Adobe products, including Bluebeam
- Ability to prepare and analyze pricing proposals, incorporating market conditions, historical data, material escalation, and subcontractor input to deliver accurate estimates
- Project scheduling (P6), phasing, and logistical planning
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of geotechnical reports, building codes, and LEED requirements
- Excellent knowledge of building systems and construction drawings to identify missing elements
- Leadership and knowledge holder of projects
- Facilitates decision‑making processes
- Positive, can‑do attitude and passion for construction
- Self‑motivated, proactive, and takes initiative
