Description Instruction & Student Mentorship

  • Teach middle and high school technical theatre classes, covering areas such as lighting, sound, set design, stage management, and production safety.
  • Develop curriculum aligned with Fine Arts and Theatre TEKS standards.
  • Mentor students in technical leadership roles for productions (e.g., stage managers, lighting/sound board operators, run crew).
  • Foster a collaborative and safe environment that emphasizes professionalism, creativity, and problem‑solving.
Production & Design Management
  • Serve as technical director, designer, or supervisor for all departmental productions, concerts, and Fine Arts events.
  • Design, or oversee the design of, scenic, lighting, and sound elements for productions.
  • Manage build schedules, technical rehearsals, and crew calls.
  • Collaborate with directors, choreographers, and music directors to achieve cohesive design visions.
  • Coordinate the setup and technical support for school‑wide events using theatre facilities (assemblies, chapels, etc.).
Facility & Equipment Oversight
  • Maintain all theatre spaces, scene shops, lighting/sound equipment, and safety tools in excellent working order.
  • Manage equipment inventory and recommend upgrades or repairs.
  • Oversee proper use, storage, and maintenance of scenic materials, props, and costumes.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards for tools, rigging, electrical systems, and backstage procedures.
Administrative & Collaborative Duties
  • Create and manage production budgets in coordination with the Fine Arts Director.
  • Supervise student crews and parent volunteers during builds and performances.
  • Collaborate with the campus maintenance team and outside vendors for facility and technical needs.
  • Support the broader Fine Arts program through interdisciplinary projects and events.
  • Participate in professional development and Fine Arts department meetings.
  • Record student grades in gradebook.
  • Report student attendance.
Spiritual Leadership
  • Continue to seek and maintain a personal relationship with Jesus.
  • Encourage, nurture, and model godly character for peers, parents, and students.
  • Participate in spiritual growth opportunities for staff and students through daily devotions, prayer, and appropriate participation in weekly chapel services.
  • Support, encourage and edify the school community.
Staff Responsibilities
  • Attend daily prayer and devotion time.
  • Serve as duty teacher before or after school, at lunch and between classes as assigned by the administration.
  • Participate in in‑service and staff development opportunities as requested by the administration.
  • Teach bell‑to‑bell and assess your students' academic needs/success continually.
  • Keep grade level principal aware of the status of those students for whom the teacher is responsible, giving special consideration to any challenges students may be facing.
  • Communicate any maintenance or equipment needs to the administration.
Parental Responsibilities
  • Realize that the parent has been given the Biblical mandate to educate, and the school functions as an extension of the Christian home.
  • Communicate with parents liberally, giving special consideration to challenges and opportunities to share successes.
Requirements Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Theatre, Technical Theatre, Theatre Production, or related field required;
    Master’s preferred.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in technical direction, educational theatre, or professional theatre production.
  • Experience working with middle and high school students is preferred.
Skills & Competencies
  • Proficiency with lighting and sound consoles (e.g., ETC, Behringer, QLab, Onyx, etc.).
  • Knowledge of scenic construction, rigging, and stage carpentry.
  • Familiarity with CAD or 3D modeling software (Vectorworks, Sketch Up, Shapr3D, Auto Cad, etc.).
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to lead students and volunteers with patience and clarity.
  • Commitment to artistic excellence, educational mentorship, and collaboration within a school community.
