The Dallas Museum of Art is a space of wonder and discovery where art comes alive.
The DMA will:

The intern will assist with research and the daily operations of the European Art department. Main responsibilities include enhancing records in the Museum's collections management system (TMS), updating collection content on the Museum website, and conducting provenance research. The intern will support curatorial projects by attending interdepartmental meetings and working collaboratively with staff across the Museum.
Duties and Responsibilities- Support ongoing research and documentation of the Dallas Museum of Art’s European art collection.
- Update and augment collections content within TMS and on the website.
- Conduct provenance research (training will be provided).
- Research and draft acquisition justifications.
- Draft labels and didactic materials which may be used in the galleries and/or online.
- Conduct research utilizing various resources, including object files and the Museum's Mayer Library and Archive.
- Attend regular one-on-one, departmental, and interdepartmental team meetings.
- Support other curatorial projects of the European art department as needed.
- Learn object-based research skills, including the use of TMS collections management software.
- Learn provenance research skills and complete provenance research project .
- Gain experience with writing for various audiences in a museum context.
- Refine professional goals and interests through mentorship from internship supervisor.
- Develop professional communication and interpersonal skills through collaboration with Museum colleagues.
- Understand the roles and functions of different staff within the Museum as well as the relationship between the departments and how they all function together.
- BA in Art History or related discipline.
- Background in one or more areas of European art from the Middle Ages to the 19th century.
- Reading proficiency in French or German preferred.
