Color Guard Instructor

Primary Purpose

As an assistant to the Director of Bands, act as the visionary expert for the Color Guard program. Be responsible for all elements of running the Color Guard program both during marching band and the winter indoor season. Duties and responsibilities are based on the needs of each individual ensemble, organization, and program. Responsibilities may include rehearsal skills, performance skills (both individual and group), show design, technology, and effective communication with others.

• High School diploma or GED
• Clear and valid Texas driver's license

• Ability to perform job duties and/or attend required meetings

3‑5 years of instructing Color Guard or related areas of study or duties involved.

• Lead daily classes at the high school throughout the year, with potential to add more classes in the future as needed.
• Attend and assist all marching band rehearsals and performances from June through October.
• Participate in winter guard rehearsals from January through March.
• Participate in evening and weekend winter guard competitions and performances from February through March.
• Provide support for various events on campus and in the community.
• Attend and assist with summer Color Guard camp.
• Participate in recruiting events throughout the year.

• Perform any and all duties as assigned.
• Successfully advance district initiatives.

Personal computer, printer, calculator, copier, shredder, fax machine, Color Guard flags, and sound system.

Work with frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control under stress.

Repetitive hand motions and prolonged use of the computer.

Job duties may require instruction, meetings, professional development, and making and receiving phone calls in a virtual or remote environment.

Minimum salary: $23,263. Work calendar: 187 days. Salary is calculated based upon experience (CP1/187 Calendar).
