Remote ABOUT THE ROLE

Red Carrot is seeking a Media Analyst to conduct news media monitoring for our client. This is a remote role that requires an early-morning start to meet media report deadlines: analysts work remotely from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM daily, with the remaining hours scheduled around media release timing, and weekend coverage is required. Reports span all media types and must reflect current data updated no later than an hour before each deadline.

• Ensure a robust quality-control process, and lead process improvements to streamline workflows
• Identify and clip agency-relevant news articles, primarily collected using platforms such as Meltwater and Lexis Nexis
• Sort news clips into groups under applicable headers, ranking each group by importance based on the day's news, issues of importance to the agency, and agency priorities
• Summarize news clips concisely
• Review articles and broadcasts across major and daily newspapers, national and cable television, local television markets, newsweeklies, relevant magazines and technical journals, internet sites, and specialty and trade press
• Determine which aspects of each story are relevant to the client and edit out information that is redundant or irrelevant
• Ensure all content is fresh, with very low incidence of day-old news, and refine keyword searches used to surface stories for the daily briefing

• Use social listening platforms to develop reports, alerts, and other notifications that detect emerging trends relevant to topics of interest
• Anticipate and address client needs by identifying influential individuals, organizations, and audience groupings
• Interpret insights and trends in context and present findings and recommendations concisely using a BLUF (bottom-line-up-front) approach

• Support proposal development by gathering and formatting information, drafting content, and obtaining approvals
• Help identify and clarify opportunities and needs by studying RFPs and contributing to strategy meetings
• Draft proposal content for technical, management/staffing, and past performance sections

• Bachelor's degree required
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in media monitoring
• Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to distill complex information into concise analyses and summaries of news topics
• Working knowledge of media monitoring tools such as Meltwater and Lexis Nexis (or predecessor tools) and social listening platforms
• Ability to successfully organize, prioritize, and manage multiple concurrent projects independently
• Strong interpersonal skills and proficiency in Microsoft 365
• Background in journalism and an understanding of the daily news cycle is helpful, but not required
