Job Overview
You will join the Design Group as a Registered Architect, working with a team of industry experts to help the world’s leading companies solve complex industrial and manufacturing design challenges.
As part of our Architecture/Engineering Process Practice, you will partner with seasoned leaders, technical specialists, and subject‑matter experts to deliver high‑quality solutions with consistency and accuracy.
Responsibilities- Work individually and in teams to support capital projects and implement solutions for clients.
- Prepare architectural designs and construction documents for industrial facility interior and exterior renovations as part of an integrated, multi‑disciplinary A/E team.
- Investigate and design building envelope systems, including all components of roofs and walls.
- Assist the owner or project manager in defining facility requirements/program for projects in advanced technologies, life science, pharma, and food and beverage design.
- Oversee the work of associate architects and designers.
- Lead the architectural design and multi‑disciplinary industrial and manufacturing project teams.
- Define industrial facility program requirements based on an understanding of the client’s production process flow and space environmental needs.
- Conduct code research specific to the project site, program, and proposed use.
- Create integrated solutions and communicate key concepts to the client.
- Develop the base plan and coordinate technical requirements with other engineering disciplines.
- Develop design intent based on client objectives.
- Research material options or alternative building methods as necessary.
- Develop specifications and direct the preparation of technical plans and related documents for permit acquisition and construction.
- Answer RFIs and review submittals and shop drawings throughout the pre‑construction and construction phases of the project.
- Manage and provide guidance to architectural designers.
- Make an impact day‑to‑day with your skills and expertise, strengthening that relationship with our clients and team.
- Working knowledge of code studies/evaluations for life science facilities or hazardous/classified areas (preferred).
- Minimum of 7 years of industrial/manufacturing architectural design experience with a proven ability to lead the facility design from the programming/concept phase through construction documents, permit acquisition, and site implementation.
- Minimum of five years of experience executing industrial projects in the advanced technologies and life science sectors (preferred).
- Food and beverage or heavy industrial/manufacturing project experience (preferred).
- Strong working knowledge of local, state, and national building codes.
- Experience in developing construction documents for pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, or food and beverage industries (preferred).
- Experience designing greenfield facilities and renovating existing buildings.
- Experience designing ISO clean rooms, labs, and processing spaces (preferred).
- Experience designing cold storage and refrigerated processing environments.
- Experience coordinating design with process engineers on industrial installations of production equipment (preferred).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with team members and clients.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Project.
- Bachelor of Architecture (BArch).
- Registered Architect (RA) license.
- Master of Architecture (MArch) (preferred).
- NCARB license (preferred).
