Job SummaryThe Medical Director of the [Clinic] provides leadership and administrative oversight of day‑to‑day operations in their area of responsibility, including APPs. Responsibilities include schedule development, template management, daily clinical management, provider engagement, patient experience, and quality improvement. The Medical Director collaborates with physicians/providers, the Vice Chair of [Area], and the Practice Manager to communicate performance metrics, share best practices, evidence‑based guidelines, and protocols, fostering a culture of collaboration, respect, and continuous improvement.
EssentialDuties And Responsibilities Clinical Performance
- Assign clinical coverage to ensure timely access for patients in the ambulatory setting, meeting hospital and Acclaim expectations.
- Partner with Practice Managers to improve clinic efficiencies.
- Oversee the distribution of clinical work, template management, patient access, and experience.
- Serve as liaison with physicians/providers to achieve high clinical standards and patient‑centric care.
- Communicate needs for physician/provider integration into clinical activities.
- Advance continuous improvement of clinical performance.
- Communicate with the Vice Chair and/or Chair about team dynamics or behavioral issues.
- Monitor physicians/providers who are not meeting practice, quality, or behavioral standards and report to leadership.
- Participate in provider annual performance appraisals.
- Assist in searches for new or replacement positions within the Department in partnership with Acclaim recruiting.
- Support the education and professional development of medical students, residents, fellows, and other health‑care learners, providing mentoring personally or through senior faculty.
- Partner with the Vice Chair to develop and implement short‑ and long‑term goals for expanding clinical services.
- Estimate future personnel, equipment, procedural, and practice needs.
- Participate in strategic planning to achieve specific objectives and address unfavorable performance variances.
- Grow the program through enhanced patient access and building strong referral relationships.
- Monitor metrics for patient and provider quality and satisfaction with the Vice Chair.
- Track compliance with federal and state directives affecting the clinic or Department.
- Assist the Vice Chair in communicating patient care policies, procedures, and standards to physicians/providers.
- Participate in Acclaim and JPS Health Network programs for community education and public relations regarding services available in the clinic or Department.
- Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from an accredited college of Medicine/Osteopathy.
- Board Certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine and eligibility for licensure in Texas.
