The program supports very active hematology and hematology-oncology groups, with specialists in pediatric leukemia/lymphomas, histiocytic neoplasms, sickle cell disease, thrombosis, and bone marrow transplant.
The department also supports a very busy gastroenterology group, with biopsies accounting for more than thirty percent of the total surgical pathology volume.
Other active departments include a highly regarded neurosciences program with a large epilepsy center, an intraoperative MRI, 18 neurologists, dedicated neuroradiology and 3 full-time pediatric neurosurgeons. There is also a pediatric stroke program supported by an endowed chair in coagulation and a neuro-intensive care unit. The cardiology/cardiac surgery service includes 3 cardiac surgeons and 21 fulltime pediatric cardiologists supported by their own cardiovascular intensive care unit.
