Position: Teacher/Girls Coach, Social Studies (26-27 CHS)
Primary

Purpose:

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Provide instruction and teach students to develop skills and fundamentals to excel in sport assigned under the direction and guidance of the Head Coach.

Contribute to the education program as a whole and to the growth of the students involved in the athletic program.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

* Bachelor's degree from accredited university

* Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned

* Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned

* ESL Certification/Endorsement within first year of employment

* CPR/AED Certification

* Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

* Knowledge of core academic subject assigned General knowledge of curriculum and instruction

* Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior

* Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills General knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures

* Knowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) rules

* Ability to instruct and supervise student athletes

* Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience:

* At least one-year student teaching or approved internship; two years' experience as coach assigned preferred.

Assistant Coach Major

Responsibilities and Duties:

Instruction:

* Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student-athletes in the sport assigned.

* Assist with management and supervision of athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.

* Work with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student athletics.

Program Management:

* Take all necessary precautions to protect student athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities.

* Keep informed of and ensure compliance with all UIL and TEA Side-by-Side rules.

* Assist with monitoring and enforcement of student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.

Student Management:

* Accompany and supervise student-athletes during daily practices, athletic competitions in assigned sports on out-of-town trips.

* Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions and while on trips off school property in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.

* Encourage, by example and through instruction, sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation.

Communication:

* Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.

* Cooperative in helping service clubs, booster clubs, and other organizations that relate to the assigned program.

* Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings.

Administration:

* Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.

* Assist with a current inventory of all fixed assets within the program.

* Assist with the process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all campus athletic equipment.

Teacher Major Responsibilities:

* Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the District's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in individual student differences.
