The Meraki School is seeking a highly capable, organized, and master educator to join our faculty.
The Meraki School is an intentionally small, hybrid, academically rigorous microschool where students receive individualized instruction in a focused and orderly environment. Our model emphasizes close teacher-student relationships, strong literacy foundations, mathematical competence, and exposure to diverse literature, history, and scientific thinking.

Position OverviewThe Math and Science Lead Teacher will provide direct instruction to two small student cohorts:
Kindergarten–2nd grade and 3rd–5th grade. The instructional day is divided between these groups.
School takes place Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at our Southlake location and office hours on Wednesdays. (16.5 hours of teaching and setup/cleanup, 2 hours of office hours, 8 hours of prep/collaboration with the lead teacher/planning field trips & school events).
This role is well suited to educators who value depth of instruction, orderly classrooms, and meaningful engagement with students.
In addition to instructional responsibilities, the teacher will engage in lesson preparation, curriculum planning, and collaboration to ensure coherence and rigor across grade levels.
Work Schedule and ResponsibilitiesThis position consists of approximately 26.5 hours per week, structured as follows:
Instructional Days (In Person)
Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays
- This includes:
- Instructional time from 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM
- 30 minutes before and after instructional time for setup and cleanup
Total in-person instructional time: 16.5 hours per week
Wednesdays — 2 hours (scheduled in coordination with school leadership)
These hours are dedicated to individual or small-group tutoring with students, allowing for targeted instruction, reinforcement of core concepts, and individualized academic support.
Planning and Preparation (Remote)
8 hours per week (may be completed remotely)
Planning responsibilities include:
- Lesson planning and instructional preparation
- Writing and organizing student assessments
- Communication with families
- Collaboration with faculty
- Planning field trips and school events
- General instructional organization
- Approximately 26.5 hours per week
- $35 per hour
- Compensation is provided across the academic year (September through May)
- The school operates on an academic calendar running from mid-August through late May, with scheduled school breaks
- August and December are partial instructional months and are incorporated into the academic calendar structure
- This position follows the school’s academic-year schedule and is not compensated during the summer months unless the teacher would participate in summer camps

This position has strong potential for expanded responsibility and pay as the school grows.
Responsibilities- Teach mathematics and science to students in grades K–5, divided into two cohorts (K–2 and 3–5)
- Plan and deliver clear, structured, and developmentally appropriate lessons
- Maintain an orderly and attentive classroom environment
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Collaborate on curriculum development and long-term academic planning
- Communicate professionally with school leadership and families
- Prior experience teaching elementary mathematics strongly preferred
- Strong command of elementary math concepts and instructional progression
- Ability to teach science and math in a clear, structured, and engaging manner
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Professional presence and sound judgment
Teaching certification is preferred but not required.
