Title Math Tutor

Position: Title 1 Math Tutor
Position Summary:

Set schedule - singe cost objective - paid 100% from Title I

The Title I Math Tutor prepares, educates, and coaches students in a Responsive Education Solutions(Responsive Ed) school. The tutor works with parents and students to provide and implement individualized instruction to improve student achievement.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification

* One of the following:

o A High School Diploma and 48 hours of higher education

o An Associate's degree or above

o Successful completion of the THEA or other appropriate examination or core academic ability

o Successful completion of the Paraprofessional Educator course provided by Master Teacher

o Successful completion of Training of Paraprofessionals provided by Regional Service Centers

* Texas State Teacher Certification (preferred)

* ESL Certification (preferred)

Experience:

* Teaching/tutoring experience in a Public School (preferred)

* Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) in Math courses:
High School Algebra 1

* A passion for children

* The ability and patience to work interactively with children

* Strong time management, communication, and interpersonal skills

* The ability to understand the individual needs of each student

* Clear understanding of goal setting for students

* The ability to communicate with all levels of students, parents, staff, and Campus Directors

* Excellent verbal communication skills

* Able to manage multiple priorities effectively

* General knowledge of Responsive Ed curriculum and instruction methods (preferred)

Responsibilities and Duties:

* Provide tutoring and instruction to develop the students understanding in assigned content areas.

* Provide sheltered instruction support for language acquisition.

* Coach and help students to become familiar with state mandated testing and other assigned testing material.

* Teach students and parents stress reducing techniques.

* Allocate time and resources to areas the student(s) are struggling.

* Perform tutorials, during normal business hours
