Dean of the Mary Couts Burnett Library

Texas Christian University invites applications for the next Dean of the Mary Couts Burnett Library.

About the Position

Reporting to the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, the Dean is the chief administrative and academic officer of the Library. The Dean will lead strategic vision and operational leadership across the Library’s services and programs, guiding it toward goals of enhancing research support, community‑engaged scholarship, and excellence in education. Responsibilities include developing and stewarding the library’s mission, championing fundraising, advocating for faculty scholarship, inspiring staff, and serving as the public voice of the library.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic vision and operational leadership to drive growth and development of the library.
  • Set priorities and guide the library toward strategic goals of enhancing and promoting research activity.
  • Lead fundraising activities and develop external collaborations to support scholarly endeavors.
  • Promote interdisciplinary opportunities and support faculty research across the university.
  • Inspire and support library staff, fostering a culture of professionalism and care.
  • Serve as the public voice of the library, solidifying partnerships nationally and internationally.
Qualifications
  • Recognized leadership in the library or higher‑education field.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, fundraising, and program development.
  • Experience fostering interdisciplinary scholarship and external collaborations.
  • Strong advocacy and communication skills, able to represent the library within and beyond the university.
  • Commitment to a service‑centered and adaptive legacy aligned with the university’s goals.
