General Position Summary:
Responsible for developing and coordinating a holistic pastoral ministry for youth (6th - 12th Grade) and young adults.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Coordinate the Middle and High School events that inspire and motivate youth to participate in the life of the parish.
- Continue to develop and put to action a comprehensive curriculum for youth to grow in their relationship with Christ, the Church and the community in conjunction with family based catechesis.
- Provides preparation for youth seeking the Sacrament of Confirmation.
- Liaison and support the Holy Family Young Adults in their monthly activities.
- Church liaison for Holy Family School's middle school students.
- Recruit, train and manage volunteers in youth ministry.
- Responsible for all other projects, tasks, etc., as assigned.
- Maintains volunteers and participant records, in accordance with Parish and Diocesan guidelines.
- Maintains a work process binder for job related tasks.
- Maintain archived materials, including class lists and attendance.
Moderate Decisions and/or Recommendations Made in This Position.
- Responds and send messages and notifications to parents as needed.
- Accountability for financial decisions within the department.
Moderate Supervision given in this position.
- Supervised by the Pastor and Director of Religious Education.
- Supervises Youth/Young Adult Ministry volunteers.
- Priests, Pastoral Assistant, and employees.
- Parishioners, parents, volunteers, and visitors.
- This position works in a typical office environment but is subject to stress due to the evolving and quickly expanding needs of the Diocese, tight deadlines and moderate workloads.
- Required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, grab, pull, hear, see, and speak on a daily basis
- Able to access and maintain centralized departmental files and supplies. Involves extending arms and reaching files stored in multiple levels on shelves, climbing up a stepladder to access files.
- Ability to accept work interruptions while remaining focused on duties.
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment: calculators, computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance and up to 60 pounds with assistance.
- Infrequent travel, by car, may be required to field trips, Diocese Parishes and/or schools.
- Practicing Catholic
- Bachelor's degree in education or equivalent
- Successful completion of the Diocesan Safe Environment program.
- Experience working with youth.
- Demonstrated professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Knowledge/Ability to share the Catholic faith.
- Social Media proficiency.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- CPR Certified:
Obtainable after hire - Must love children.
- Detail oriented and organized.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn.
- Demonstrated history of good judgement
- Demonstrated aptitude for adaptability and flexibility.
- Demonstrated ability to skillset to listen empathetically, make peace, and de-escalate.
- Excellent organization, prioritization, and communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Good communication skills with team members and parents
- Ability to honor and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to receive, understand, retain, and complete verbal and written tasks.
- Ability to work independently as well as in teams.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service and work efficiently with staff, clergy, religious, and laity.
- Ability to work well with people from a diverse variety of audiences.
- Bilingual (Spanish/ English) is desirable, but not required.
