Job Description General Description

This pivotal role, operating within the State Compensatory Education (SCE) program, entails strategic planning, coordination, training, and leadership in the realm of guidance and counseling, as well as the administration of Safe and Drug‑Free Schools initiatives. Tailored to the unique needs of our student population, this position drives the development and execution of comprehensive programs aimed at fostering academic success, emotional well‑being, and a supportive school environment.

Qualifications
  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • TEA Guidance/Counseling Certification or LPC.
  • Special Knowledge/Skills including strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Minimum of three years of successful public high school counseling and/or administrative experience.
  • Five years successful counseling experience grades 9‑12.
Experience Requirements
  • Establish benchmarks to ensure that students meet CCMR standards prior to graduation.
  • Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data.
  • Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with state accountability.
  • Such alternatives to the above requirements as the district may find appropriate and acceptable.
Essential Performance Responsibilities
  • Work with campus Principal to write, implement, coordinate, and monitor the district's counseling curriculum; provide district‑wide staff development for counselors and campus sites as needed; and participate in the assessment process for the district counseling department.
  • Provide leadership and coordination to scholarship programs.
  • Provide leadership and coordination regarding the high school course catalogue development.
  • Write, implement, coordinate, and monitor the campus master schedules.
  • Serve as district representative to community social service agencies.
  • Provide leadership, management, technical assistance, and vision to campus personnel including teachers, principals, and support personnel, central administration, and district‑level committees.
  • Assure the enforcement of federal and state laws, local Board of Trustee's policies, grant specifications, and personnel qualifications and certifications.
  • Promote communication with parents and others in the community concerning the mission of the district and the accompanying products and services; participate in and support community collaboratives and activities; and provide educational outreach into the community.
  • Manage budgets and maintain accurate records for accountability and audit purposes.
  • Assist in the recruitment, interviewing, selection, and appraisal of guidance and counseling personnel.
  • Provide support and services to parents, community members, district and campus staff members, and students in problem solving.
  • Support the selection and acquisition of instructional software and hardware; provide and attend training; integrate technology appropriately into the counseling environment.
  • Make student‑centered decisions and enhance student productivity.
  • Provide coordination, support, and services to counselor interns in the district.
  • Provide leadership and coordination to campus personnel related to student support teams and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
  • Provide coordination and support to district and campus staff related to the identification of at‑risk students.
  • Provide management, leadership, and coordination to high school campus administration for the district's College and Career Day.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
