Specialist (Activity Leader) – FWAS Program
Department: FWISD AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS
Reports to: Site Supervisor – FWAS Program
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Part-Time / Hourly
Pay Rates:
- Certified Teacher – $35.00
- Degree/Not certified – $25.00
- No Degree/90 college hours – $22.00
- No Degree/60 college hours – $19.00
- No Degree/30 college hours – $16.00
- No Degree/less than 30 college hours – $13.00
Specialists (Activity Leaders) work up to 14.5 hours per week. Employment does not guarantee a minimum number of work hours. Specialists are placed according to individual areas of expertise.

Position PurposeResponsible for the delivery of program activities in the FWAS program. Assists in developing and implementing activities; provides constant visual supervision of students.
Essential Job Functions Primary Duties- Greets parents and children with salutations and smiles.
- Provides a safe and healthy environment for the participants.
- Plans and implements daily lessons and activities for assigned group.
- Designs activities that are developmentally appropriate and enable participants to learn new skills; develops activities that engage, motivate, and expose students to intentional learning experiences.
- Creates a range of activities and opportunities for students’ work to be showcased throughout the school year.
- Serves meals to the program participants.
- Uses approved discipline techniques when dealing with a student’s inappropriate behavior.
- Ensures students are signed in and out by authorized parent or nominated person.
- Notifies Site Supervisor as early as possible of the need to be absent.
- Attends and participates in regular staff meetings and all training provided by FWAS and CBO provider.
- Confirms that activities are ongoing and consistent throughout all terms within a year (Fall & Spring).
- Oversees events throughout the year and engages/sustains daily activity programming.
- Works toward achieving student participation goals and maintains staff-to-student participant ratio as specified by FWAS.
- Ensures activities will be selected based on the identified needs of the targeted students.
- Safeguards that activities are innovative, interactive, and respond to the identified needs of the students.
- Implements activities that are educational and literacy related, based on need and in collaboration with the school.
- Follows established safety procedures (i.e., engages in no unsupervised activities with student participants, provides constant visual supervision of students).
- Reviews and maintains understanding of program deliverables.
- Exams student data and provides input for programs that may assist with student success.
- Coordinates tasks and activities with other Activity Leaders where applicable.
- Oversees and monitors student participants to ensure compliance with FWAS Program guidelines.

- Performs all job related duties as assigned and in accordance to the Board rules, policies and regulations. All employees are expected to comply with lawful directives in rare situations driven by need where a team effort is required.
- Knowledge of FWAS policies and procedures (i.e., not eating anything that is not available to students, not consuming dinner provided to students, leading and monitoring students at all times).
