White Settlement ISD - Middle School Counselor
Description/Notes: White Settlement ISD is seeking a student-centered and collaborative school counselor committed to supporting the academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and college/career development needs of middle school students. The ideal candidate will build positive relationships with students, staff, and families while helping create a safe and supportive school environment where all students can thrive.
Primary PurposePlan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program at the middle school level. Counsel students to fully develop each student’s academic, career, personal, and social abilities while supporting student success and well-being.
Qualifications- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid Texas School Counselor certificate
- Knowledge of counseling procedures, student support systems, and applicable state and federal laws
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Experience working with adolescents preferred
- Current School Counselor certifications
- Implement a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with district and campus goals
- Provide individual counseling, small group counseling, and crisis intervention services for students
- Support students’ academic planning, goal setting, and transition readiness
- Assist students with social-emotional development, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills
- Collaborate with administrators, teachers, families, and support staff to address student needs
- Participate in intervention, MTSS, Section 504, ARD, attendance, and other student support meetings as appropriate
- Monitor student progress and use data to support interventions and campus improvement efforts
Coordinate college, career, and high school readiness activities appropriate for middle school students - Maintain accurate records and comply with confidentiality requirements and ethical standards
- Assist with campus safety, crisis response, and student support planning as needed
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students and families
- Demonstrate empathy, professionalism, and sound judgment
- Maintain high expectations while supporting the whole child
- Communicate effectively and collaborate positively with staff and parents
- Are organized, proactive, and solution-oriented
- Have a passion for helping students succeed academically and personally
The middle school counselor works in a collaborative educational setting focused on student achievement, wellness, and school culture.
SalarySalary based on the district compensation plan and years of approved experience. Salary range: 65,000 – 83,000 207 work calendar.
