Coordinator IV Instrumental Music

Under the direction of the Director of Visual & Performing Arts, the Coordinator of Instrumental Music is responsible for assisting in the planning, assessment, implementation, curriculum and the coordination of the district's Instrumental Music Programs and related initiatives. Supports campuses, Teachers, Principals, and District Service Center staff in implementing a coherent PK-12 strategy to support all learners with a focus on Fine Arts.

Ensures that the Curriculum and Instruction practices are designed to close achievement and opportunity gaps throughout the District. Ensures appropriate support is provided to campuses through department personnel.

Other Duties as Assigned:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education, as well as District policies and procedures. Knowledge of overall operations of music, art, theater, and fine arts extracurricular programs. Knowledge of grant funding compliance and accounting principles to understand and communicate how decisions affect the project bottom line. Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.

Knowledge of effective research-based strategies, theories, techniques, and methodologies. Skill in program planning, development, analysis and evaluation. Skill in judgment and decision making; considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one. Skill in working with initiatives that require collaboration with district and outside agencies and organizations. Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

Skill in written and oral communication skills including ability to interact with and influence all levels of district service center and campus staff as well as parents. Ability to design, organize, and track work plans, create appropriate working and decision- making processes, ensure stakeholders are engaged, and support the work itself. Ability to create solutions for the product and process by adapting to feedback and other constraints, such as limited data, community, voice, and phasing.

Ability to establish program goals and objectives that support the strategic plan. Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions. Ability to present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations to students, parents, and District staff. Ability to work in a team environment, to capitalize on the strengths of team members, and to motivate/guide team members toward the accomplishment of a common goal/vision.

Ability to use application software to access databases, email, create spreadsheets, and process professional documents. Ability to organize and coordinate work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and proactively resolve issues. Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure. Ability to exercise discretion regarding matters of a sensitive or confidential nature. Ability to prepare oral or written communications, such as presentations, reports, memoranda, letters, grant proposals, and other documents.
