Position Purpose

The Director of Emergent Bilingual Programs and Supports is responsible for implementing, ensuring compliance, and continuously improving bilingual education programs and services for Emergent Bilingual (EB) students across the district. The role oversees systems that ensure students are accurately identified, appropriately placed, and provided services that meet all federal, state, and district expectations, while maintaining strong program fidelity across PK–12 campuses, including Dual Language programs.

In close collaboration with the Student Placement Center and Curriculum & Instruction departments—Assessment, Analytics, Reporting, and Accountability, Core Content, and Specialized Learning—the Director ensures coordinated systems of support that promote access to grade-level content, language development, and student success. The Director also works with School Leadership to support consistent campus implementation, program monitoring, and alignment to district expectations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Leads the implementation, monitoring, and compliance of bilingual education programs and services for Emergent Bilingual (EB) students across PK–12 campuses, ensuring alignment with all federal, state, and district requirements and expectations.
  • Oversees and monitors the implementation fidelity of bilingual education program models, including Dual Language programs, ensuring consistency with district expectations across campuses.
  • Designs, leads, and monitors LPAC systems, including training, documentation, and compliance, ensuring accurate student identification, placement decisions, parent communication, and adherence to all required procedures.
  • Partners with Curriculum & Instruction departments—Core Content and Specialized Learning—to ensure Emergent Bilingual students have access to grade-level content and appropriate language supports embedded within instruction.
  • Collaborates with School Leadership to ensure consistent campus implementation, program fidelity, and full compliance with federal, state, and district requirements and expectations.
  • Ensures accurate and timely identification, placement, and service provision for Emergent Bilingual students in coordination with the Student Placement Center.
  • Leads family engagement and wraparound efforts to support Emergent Bilingual students and families, including communication, outreach, and strategies to promote program understanding and student retention and success.
  • Leads program monitoring, reporting, and annual evaluation of Emergent Bilingual programs in collaboration with Assessment, Analytics, Reporting, and Accountability, ensuring data accuracy and continuous improvement.
  • Ensures teachers on the annual Bilingual and ESL Waiver attain required certification in collaboration with Talent Management, ensuring progress toward certification and reduction of waiver reliance.
  • Oversees translation and interpretation services to ensure equitable access to information and services for families.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in scheduling and availability, including extended or adjusted work hours during peak compliance periods, program monitoring cycles, and critical deadlines, to ensure timely and accurate execution of all responsibilities.
Safety
  • Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensures equipment is in safe operating condition.
  • Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing; operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  • Corrects unsafe conditions in the work area and promptly reports any conditions that are not immediately correctable to the supervisor.
