Description

Job Title: Education & Literacy Instructor AEL – Reentry GED Part Time

Locations: 4005 Campus Drive, Fort Worth, Texas

Work Hours: Monday through Thursday, 20 hours per week.

General Job Duties: All job functions are to be performed following safety guidelines and regulations. Develop and maintain lesson plans based upon formal assessments and student goals using instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs. Instruction must produce educational improvements for all assigned students as measured by student baseline/progress testing. Conduct any and all activities necessary to secure progress tests for all students after 40 hours of instruction.

Conduct all activities necessary to meet and surpass all Target Performance Measures including but not limited to recruitment efforts, traveling to different class sites when needed and facilitate contextualized classroom instruction to AEL participants in IET classes. Submit all required documentation and reports in accordance with program guidelines: student‑related (attendance reports, assessment, counseling notes, etc.) and staff‑related (timesheets, professional development forms, end of year, etc.).

Maintain classroom behavior. Maintain a thorough working knowledge of and adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required in a timely manner. Attend staff meetings and other Goodwill North Central Texas events/meetings as required. Other duties as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level (strongly preferred). Demonstrate the expertise and confidence to provide high‑level instruction across the core high‑school curriculum, including Reading & Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Mathematics. ESL certification (strongly preferred). Working knowledge of a second language (strongly preferred). Trained in adult learning methodology and at least two years’ experience working with adults.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly with individuals from diverse social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with students, staff, and community.

Physical Requirements: Office environment, mobile, ability to sit for long periods of time, and ability to lift 10-15 lbs. occasionally. Must have reliable transportation.

Legal Requirements: Documentation to satisfy I‑9, ability to pass drug screen, background check, and meet staff qualifications.
