Position Summary
Ignite Community School Fort Worth is seeking a passionate, student-centered, and highly effective 5th Grade Math and Science Teacher who is committed to ensuring all scholars achieve academic excellence. The ideal candidate will provide engaging, standards-based instruction that fosters critical thinking, problem‑solving, and a love for mathematics and science while preparing students for academic success and state assessments.
Primary Responsibilities Instruction- Plan and deliver rigorous, TEKS‑aligned math and science instruction for 5th grade scholars.
- Develop engaging lessons that incorporate hands‑on learning, inquiry, and real‑world applications.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic needs of all learners, including special populations.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, technology, and manipulatives to maximize student engagement.
- Maintain high expectations for academic achievement and student behavior.
- Analyze student assessment data to identify strengths, misconceptions, and learning gaps.
- Implement targeted interventions and enrichment based on data.
- Monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments.
- Prepare students for district benchmark assessments and the STAAR assessment.
- Participate in MTSS processes and intervention planning.
- Establish and maintain a positive, structured, and safe learning environment.
- Implement campus‑wide behavior expectations consistently.
- Foster positive relationships with students while promoting responsibility and accountability.
- Collaborate with grade‑level and content teams to plan instruction and analyze student data.
- Attend professional learning communities (PLCs), staff meetings, and professional development.
- Work closely with instructional coaches, interventionists, and special education staff to support student success.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and academic expectations.
- Maintain accurate grades, attendance, and student records.
- Submit lesson plans and required documentation on time.
- Participate in campus events, family engagement activities, and professional learning opportunities.
- Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to the school's mission and values.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate with appropriate certification (Core Subjects EC–6 or 4–8 Mathematics/Science preferred).
- Demonstrated knowledge of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
- Strong classroom management and instructional planning skills.
- Ability to analyze student data and use it to improve instruction.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
- Experience teaching upper elementary mathematics and science is preferred.
- Experience preparing students for STAAR assessments.
- Knowledge of MTSS, differentiated instruction, and intervention strategies.
- Experience integrating instructional technology into daily lessons.
- Ability to build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Strong understanding of elementary mathematics concepts and scientific inquiry.
- Ability to create engaging, student-centered learning experiences.
- Commitment to high expectations and continuous improvement.
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative school environment.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Bachelor degree preferred.
