This is a pooled posting utilized to hire adjunct instructors. Hiring supervisors review applications and make hiring decisions as part-time faculty assignments become available.

Job Summary

Reporting to the campus department instructional leader, adjunct instructors provide assistance to students in their learning process by utilizing all appropriate college resources, materials, facilities, and educational technologies available to complement the teaching and learning process providing a direct impact to student success.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Accept and teach classes based on varied schedules and modalities (Dual Credit, On-Campus, Online or Weekend College) as assigned by designated supervisor
  • Accommodate student needs and external stakeholders’ expectations of the College
  • Prepare and deliver instruction to students following the College Master Syllabus using the approved learning management system
  • Communicate regularly with students and college officials, including responding to e‑mails, calls, and requests for meetings
  • Independently pursue activities to enhance subject matter expertise, skills in various modes of instruction, and knowledge of learning
  • Prepare assignments and assessments to assure achievement of learning outcomes
  • Design and maintain an active classroom environment conducive to student learning and success
  • Maintain student attendance records weekly and certify student enrollments by the established deadline
  • Evaluate student performance and learning in accordance with discipline and department standards
  • Provide regular and timely evaluation feedback to students, post grades in the learning management system weekly, and submit final grades by the established deadline
  • Assign grades consistent with course requirements
  • Assist in College's commitment to assessing student learning outcomes and program learning outcomes and to achieving institutional performance measures
  • Accept assignments as necessary at other sites such as for dual credit courses
Service Excellence
  • Support the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
  • Complete all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
  • Attend the workplace regularly and follow a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the work site
  • Adhere to College policies and procedures
  • Adhere to applicable safety procedures
Required

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or higher in History
  • OR Master’s degree or higher with eighteen (18) graduate hours in History
  • Degree must be from a regionally accredited college or university
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least one (1) year of working experience in the discipline / teaching area
  • At least one (1) year of experience teaching a class or facilitating training
  • At least one (1) year of teaching experience utilizing active learning techniques, service learning and innovative technology
  • At least one (1) year’s experience teaching in Dual Credit and Early College High School programs
  • At least one (1) year’s experience teaching online
