Role Description
The High School Counselor is a full-time, on-site role located in Fort Worth, TX. This role provides comprehensive counseling services to high school students, including academic guidance, social-emotional support, and college and career planning. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting individual and group counseling sessions, developing and reviewing student academic plans, and helping students explore postsecondary options. The counselor collaborates with teachers, administrators, families, and community partners to support student success and coordinate interventions when needed.
The role also involves maintaining accurate records, contributing to campus initiatives that promote student well-being, and participating in professional development aligned with district goals.
- Demonstrated skills in student counseling and supporting diverse high school students.
- Experience in career counseling, including college readiness and postsecondary planning.
- Strong academic advising abilities within a high school education setting.
- Knowledge of secondary education practices and graduation requirements.
- Relevant counseling or education certification/licensure as required by Texas regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in counseling, education, or a related field preferred.
- Effective communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills with students, families, and staff.
- Ability to manage confidential information, maintain accurate documentation, and use data to inform student support.
