This is not a teaching position. Your job is to drive motivation.
When a student reaches 99% of their target, the most powerful thing you can do is refuse to settle. If that expectation feels uncomfortable, this role is not for you. If it energizes you—because maintaining high standards is how you signal belief in a student's ability—then read on.
Alpha students complete their academic work through AI-driven applications. No classroom lectures. No printed textbooks. You'll spend half your day facilitating one-hour life-skills sessions covering topics like public speaking, concentration, and constructive feedback. The other half, you'll meet with students individually or in small groups, analyze their performance via Coachbot data, and guide each one toward 100% completion of their weekly digital learning targets.
You won't follow a fixed script—sessions are frameworks, and the most effective Coaches modify them or build entirely new ones when needed.
A successful quarter means every student in your group completes their weekly app assignments, demonstrates mastery on the Test2
Pass for all life-skills workshops, and 90% or more report a positive relationship with you. Fall short on any one of these, and the role's purpose is unfulfilled. Your first year is about mastering the system; once you prove you can uphold expectations, advancement to Lead Guide becomes possible, where you mentor incoming Coaches while continuing direct student work.
If you prefer traditional classroom instruction, need fully scripted lesson plans, or see warmth and rigor as incompatible, this opportunity won't align. If your background includes athletic coaching, summer camp leadership, tutoring where quitting wasn't an option, or performance work that captivated young audiences, the final hiring step is a full day on‑site coaching actual Alpha students.
What You Will Be Doing- Facilitating one-hour life-skills sessions for K-8 groups on topics including public speaking, focus, feedback, and other enduring competencies—customizing the existing framework and creating new content when you identify a need.
- Conducting daily individual and small-group coaching conversations that drive every student to 100% completion of their weekly digital learning targets, leveraging Coachbot data, Alpha's motivational systems (campus currency, competitive leaderboards), and your personal rapport with each student to overcome resistance.
- Delivering the Test2
Pass (Alpha's competency-based evaluation) for each life skill and working with students who fall short until they demonstrate mastery. - Adjusting your approach across a broad developmental spectrum—from kindergarteners requiring dynamic, kinetic engagement to eighth graders needing direct conversation and personal responsibility.
- Serving as both the adult who maintains non-negotiable standards and the adult students trust and seek out; building connection earns the credibility to challenge, and challenging communicates your confidence in their capacity.
- Presenting lessons at a board; academic content is delivered through the applications, not through direct instruction from you.
- Creating original curriculum materials; you animate an established framework with presence and narrative skill.
- Passively monitoring students as they work on devices; motivation in this model is hands‑on, individualized, and persistent.
- Adjusting a weekly target downward to make it easier for a student to succeed; when a student falls behind, the solution is supporting the student, not lowering the standard.
- Evaluating assignments, conducting test-prep sessions, or handling family communications;
Campus Leads manage parent interaction, and those other responsibilities don't exist in this role.
