Job Summary:
The Coordinator of Degree Certification is responsible for managing undergraduate and graduate student degree certification processes in Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences, and serves as the primary support for undergraduate and graduate academic programs and processes in the college.
Duties &Essential Job Functions:
Prepares and monitors students' intent to graduate no later than two semesters prior to graduation; provides degree certification of seniors by reviewing all undergraduate senior academic advising reports, manages the process of ensuring the posting of senior grades at the end of each term, ensuring that graduation requirements have been met; approves students for graduation in collaboration with the Registrar's office;
notifies students they have been approved for graduation or that they do not meet graduation requirements.
Certifies progress of all Harris College student athletes for NCAA compliance each semester in coordination with the Athletic Department; ensures deadlines are met.
Assists academic units with graduate student application and admission process. Provides processing instruction for submission of graduate financial aid forms and student stipends. Sends notices to graduate students of deadlines for filing intent to graduate forms and certifies graduate students for graduation in collaboration with the Registrar's Office; notifies students they have been approved for graduation or that they do not meet graduation requirements.
Provides administrative support to Associate Dean for Nursing & Nurse Anesthesia and Associate Dean for Health Sciences related to students' academic standing; researches, advises and provides supporting documentation to inform decisions.
Serves as a resource for college academic advisors and faculty advisors on student advisement of degree plan requirements for undergraduate and graduate programs. Run queries on appropriate student registration; academic warning, probations, suspensions; processes non-traditional course contracts as approved by Associate Deans; reviews current processes and consults with the Registrar's office, Dean, Associate Deans and Academic Advisors; makes recommendations for improvement and oversees the implementation of approved changes;
receives, processes, and maintains documents and databases; troubleshoots potential problems and makes appropriate referrals; meets with faculty as necessary; ensures that Harris College record keeping processes align with those of the Registrar's office.
Works with multiple offices to stay updated and informed to ensure Harris College meets current standards for multiple processes; offices include, but are not limited to, Registrar, Human Resources, Graduate Studies, Financial Aid, Athletics.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree.
- 2 plus years' experience in higher education.

- 3 plus years' experience using higher education software.
- Knowledge of curriculum and degree requirements.
- Knowledge of university programs; knowledge of program planning.
- Knowledge of research techniques.
- Knowledge of NCAA student athlete compliance requirements.
- Skill in components of Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on Excel.
- Skill in the navigation of Microsoft Windows.
- Skill in complex problem solving
- Skill in communications and interpersonal techniques, including being an effective member of a team.
- Ability to establish and maintain databases, with an emphasis on Peoplesoft.
- Ability to clearly communicate information orally and in writing.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Ability to review and make recommendations to improve and streamline processes.
- Ability to interact with constituencies and peers.
- Ability to develop problem statement and link research methodologies.
- Ability to use research conclusions and collegial input to develop strategic alternatives.
