Summary:
The Special Programs Director will work closely with the MTSS teams to review referrals and diagnostic reports to determine appropriate interventions, provide training and support for special education and general education teachers, and ensure that all legal requirements are met. The Special Programs Director will also work with the Principals and other designated staff to conduct ARD, 504, and LPAC meetings, ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and local requirements.
S/he will also work with the Principals to schedule and document all student services with employed or contracted staff and providers.
Essential
Job Requirements:
- Master's Degree
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate in Special Education
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Special Education Teacher
- Excellent Organizational, Communication, and Interpersonal Skills
- Previous Leadership Experience preferred

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Consultation:
- Provide staff development training for school personnel in identification and understanding of students with disabilities.
- Assist classroom teachers with implementation of all special populations plans.
- Provide coaching for Special Education and Dyslexia Teachers and Aides.
- Consult parents concerning the educational needs of students and interpretation of assessment data.
- Consult parents, teachers, administrators, and other relevant individuals to enhance their work with students.
Program Management:
- Develop and maintain effective individual and group relationships.
- Assist in the selection of assessment materials and equipment.
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
- Comply with all laws, policies, routines, and regulations.
- Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment.
Coordination:
- Maintain a positive and effective relationship with supervisors.
- Effectively communicate with colleagues, contractors, students, and parents.
- Compile and ensure the integrity of various data.
- Support and monitor the campus-initiated referral process.
- Respond to parent requests for special education evaluations according to federal, state, and local rules.
- Respond to special programs inquiries from parents and staff.
- Assist with activities concerning compliance and performance of all special programs, including 504, LPAC, and SPED.
- Assist in generating solutions to special programs' challenges.
- Assist the Campus Principal with other projects and duties as assigned.
