Job Title

Responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the content areas served, which includes curriculum and staff development duties as assigned. Provide leadership in the design, revision, and implementation of curriculum necessary to meet the State and District instructional goals. Evaluate and provide leadership for the overall instructional program of campuses served.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Education Administration and/or Curriculum and Instruction

  • Expert knowledge of content and essential standards
  • Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness

  • Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of the integration of technology into the district's curriculum

Experience:

  • Five years experience as a classroom teacher
  • Two years experience in instructional leadership roles

Major Responsibilities:

Instructional and Program Management:

  • Direct instructional and curriculum services to meet students' needs at the campus.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate instructional programs with teachers and principals, including learning objectives, instructional strategies, and assessment techniques at campus level.
  • Apply research and data to improve the content, sequence, and outcomes of the teaching-learning process.
  • Work with appropriate campus level staff to develop, maintain, and revise curriculum documents based on systematic review and analysis.
  • Involve instructional staff in evaluating and selecting instructional materials to meet student learning needs.
  • Ensure the use of technology in the teaching-learning process.
  • Plan the necessary time, resources, and materials to support accomplishment of education goals at campus.
  • Ensure that district goals and objectives are developed using collaborative processes and problem-solving techniques when appropriate.
  • Participate in the district and campus-level decision-making process to establish and review the district/campus goals and objectives and major classroom instructional programs of the district.
  • Actively support the efforts of others to achieve district goals and objectives and campus performance objectives (academic excellence indicators).
  • Obtain and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to examine curriculum and instruction program effectiveness.
  • Secure consultants, specialists, and other community resources to assist principals and instructional staff in attaining objectives.
  • Provide effective staff development activities at campus that incorporate the mission of the district, program evaluation outcomes, and input from teachers and others.
  • Facilitate small group instruction to support campus goals and district accountability.
  • Facilitate curriculum writing and the deep alignment of district approved written, tested, and taught curriculum.
  • Policy, Reports, and Law:

  • Implement the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in curriculum and instruction area.
  • Compile, maintain, and present all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Budget:

  • Coordinate the selection and purchase of supplemental resources, equipment, and supplies for the program.
  • Participate in grant-writing activities to obtain program funding.
  • Communication:

  • Provide for two-way communication with principals, teachers, staff, parents, and community.
  • Demonstrate skill in conflict resolution with administrators, parents, teachers, staff, and community.
  • Monitor professional research and disseminate ideas and information to other professionals.
  • Community Relations:

  • Articulate the campus and district's mission, instructional philosophy, and curriculum implementation strategies to the community and solicit its support in realizing the district's mission.
  • Demonstrate awareness of district-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.
  • Demonstrate use of appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.
  • Other:

  • Attend board meetings regularly and make presentations to the board.
  • Participate in professional development activities to maintain current knowledge of rules, regulations, and practices.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Supervisor and/or Superintendent.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Must be present regularly in person.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate the performance of instructional supervisors and teachers in the effective implementation of district approved written, tested, and taught curriculum.
