Campus Econaut — Campus Ambassador (Volunteer)
Econautics Sustainability Institute | Fort Worth, TX | Remote + local site visits | Unpaid, course credit possible
About us:
Econautics is a Fort Worth 501(c)(3) building Living Laboratories — working urban farms where kids and adults learn conservation, agronomy, permaculture, and how to grow real food. Our first site is in East Fort Worth, in a neighborhood the grocery stores left behind. We run camps, workshops, and school programs there. We call our people Econauts. We're looking for one on your campus.
What you'd do:
- Be our name on campus. You're the person students, faculty, and clubs come to when they want to know what Econautics is.
- Fill our camps and workshops. Get the word out when registration opens, and help us find counselors and workshop help from your campus.
- Bring people to the site. Organize service days with your club, chapter, or team, and follow up so people actually show up.
- Open doors. Connect us with faculty who run service-learning courses, capstones, and internships.
- Tell the story. Take photos, post, and say what you saw.
Who we're looking for:
Someone who's already the person that gets things organized. You don't need a background in agriculture — you need to be reliable, comfortable talking to strangers, and actually interested in this work. Environmental science, biology, nutrition and dietetics, education, public health, communications, and nonprofit management majors all fit well. So does anyone else who wants in.
The commitment:
Three to five hours a week for one semester, renewable. One onboarding session, a monthly check-in, and at least one visit to the Living Lab so you can speak about it honestly.
What you get:
Real nonprofit experience, not busywork A reference letter and direct access to our board and community partners Course or internship credit where your school allows it A brand kit, slide deck, one-pager, and your own registration tracking link First look at paid seasonal camp roles
How to apply:
Send a short email to jason with the subject line Campus Ambassador — [Your School]. Tell us who you are, what you're studying, and why this one. No formal resume required, though send it if you have it. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Econautics welcomes applicants from every background and every campus in North Texas.
