Director, College of Fine Arts Academic Resource Center

Job Summary:

The Director of the College of Fine Arts Academic Resource Center is responsible for directing the College of Fine Arts Academic Resource Center by managing undergraduate and graduate academic advising for College of Fine Arts majors, coordinating retention strategies, and developing student development activities.

• Provides administrative and operational support to CFA leadership, faculty, staff, and students in the College of Fine Arts on matters regarding advising, orientation, academic services, student programming, retention and persistence, and career readiness.
• Supervises the advising processes of the CFA by developing advising strategies and strengthening best practices in advising; manages staff advisors’ caseloads and provides training to academic advisors; communicates University, and CFA academic policies.
• Serves as the CFA’s liaison to campus offices including Student Affairs, Director of Academic Advising, Student Access and Accommodation and Dean of Students; trains faculty/staff advisors to make appropriate referrals to students for on campus support services.
• Works with CFA chairs and directors on orientation events, Mondays at TCU, Experience TCU, and other prospective student programming as needed.
• Monitors CFA student academic records by receiving, processing, and maintaining required documents; creates and maintains required databases; analyzes information and provides reports; liaises with the CFA Coordinator of Degree Certification on degree completion data; liaises with the CFA Associate Deans on student concerns and academic processes.
• Enhances the CFA student experience by coordinating programs focused on academic progress, retention, community, and student health and wellness, especially wellness challenges unique to fine and performing arts majors; collaborates with other areas of the CFA for student programming; collaborates with the CFA Career Consultant on strengthening post-graduation opportunities for CFA graduates.
• Maintains a reduced advising workload.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Master’s Degree in related field.
• 3 years' experience in higher education programs focusing on academic advising, recruitment and retention.

• Supervision of staff and/or teams.

• Knowledge of university programs.
• Knowledge of customer service techniques.
• Skill in some or all components of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Windows navigation.
• Ability to clearly communicate information, both written and verbal.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Ability to counsel and interact positively with students and faculty.

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.

• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
