The most meaningful support you can offer a student who reaches 99% of their weekly target is to hold the line at 100%. Not out of indifference, but because you know they are capable of finishing what they started—and that dropping the standard is the true disservice.
You are not a traditional instructor. At Alpha, academic content is delivered through AI-powered adaptive learning platforms. No classroom lectures. No printed textbooks. No whiteboard lessons. Motivation and life skills—the elements most schools treat as afterthoughts—are your entire focus.
Consider a typical Tuesday. You spend half the day facilitating one-hour life-skills sessions for a K-8 group, covering topics like public speaking, sustained attention, and constructive feedback exchange. The other half is dedicated to one-on-one and small-group coaching, where you review Coachbot data and guide each student toward completing 100% of their weekly app objectives, leveraging school currency, leaderboards, and the trust you've established to overcome obstacles.
Your quarterly success is measured by three outcomes: all students in your cohort meet their weekly app targets, all students pass the Test2
Pass mastery assessment for each workshop, and at least 90% report that they love working with you. Falling short on any of these three means the role's core purpose is unmet.
The reward comes when a student who spent September convinced they couldn't do math asks you to increase their challenge level.
This is a full-time, in-person position at one of Alpha's school campuses. We hire nationally, so job postings may appear in nearby cities where we do not yet operate a campus.
Current openings at this compensation level are in Scottsdale, AZ;
Oklahoma City and Tulsa, OK;
Nashville, TN;
Dallas, Plano, Fort Worth, Houston, and Brownsville, TX;
Springfield, MA; and Park City, UT.
If your preferred Alpha campus is not listed, indicate your location preference—we will review you for the relevant opening.
What You Will Be Doing- Facilitating one-hour life-skills sessions for K-8 groups on public speaking, sustained attention, and the exchange of constructive feedback
- Conducting daily one-on-one and small-group coaching that drives every student to complete 100% of their weekly app objectives, informed by Coachbot analytics and Alpha's incentive tools (school currency, leaderboards)
- Delivering the Test2
Pass mastery evaluation for each life skill, then re-coaching students who do not pass until mastery is achieved - Refining the workshop framework and creating additional sessions when needed, ensuring content resonates with both kindergarteners and eighth graders
- Serving as both the adult who upholds the standard and the adult your students choose to confide in
- Delivering whiteboard lectures, creating math and reading lesson plans, or grading assignments; academic instruction is handled by the apps
- Conducting standardized test preparation or being accountable for class-wide test performance
- Managing parent conferences, emails, or concerns; campus leadership handles all parent-facing communication
- Managing behavior for 30 students simultaneously; cohorts are intentionally small and behavior support is delivered through 1:1 coaching
- Passively supervising children at computer screens; motivation work here is direct and relational
