Special Instructions to Applicant

This is a part‑time temporary position, with a maximum of 19.5 hrs. per week.

Job Summary

This role is responsible for working with students in laboratory classes, maintaining equipment as well as preparing materials and providing lab setups.

Essential Performance Requirements
  • Consult with faculty laboratory coordinator to determine equipment purchase priorities based on budget allowances, condition of existing equipment, and scheduled laboratory activities
  • Prepare and put in place equipment scheduled for use during laboratory teaching sessions
  • Demonstrate care and use of equipment
  • Train teaching staff and students in application and use of new equipment
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and dismantle and repair equipment when possible
  • Confere with teaching staff periodically to evaluate new equipment and methods
  • Maintain reference materials used by students
  • Maintain and prepare classrooms, materials and apparatuses commonly used in chemistry and physics laboratories
  • Inventory, order, and check in materials and supplies and ensure that good safety, housekeeping and security practices are adhered to at all times
  • Assist with registration
Service Excellence
  • Attend the workplace regularly, report to work punctually, and follow a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the work site
  • Complete all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
  • Support the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
Supervision

Works under the general supervision of department leadership

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Three (3) years of working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements

  • Ability to assist students and users in a laboratory setting and to work with faculty and staff in planning, organizing, and maintaining the laboratory for the benefit of all

  • Computerized application and enterprise system proficiency, including word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
