Traveling Lead Composite Blade Technician Level 4

Seeking strong Lead Blade Repair Technicians with extensive category 4 & 5 repair experience.

Location: Throughout USA (and potentially Canada) | 100% travel on a rotational basis.

Position Type: Full-Time Employee or Contractor.

Job Responsibilities:

• Travel 100% to wind farms across the U.S., via air or truck (Canada travel a potential, if eligible).
• Lead and mentor technicians in composite blade repairs, up to Category 5 complexity or specialty repairs.
• Perform expert composite blade repairs on towers using platforms, ground, or rope access.
• Conduct epoxy and polyester resin wet lay-up, vacuum infusion, and work with balsa and foam sandwich materials.
• Potentially perform structural blade repairs.
• Complete detailed daily progress reports and QA/QC documentation, following quality checkpoints.
• Perform onsite stock checks.
• Demonstrate leadership within the team.
• Assist site lead and project coordinator.

Candidate Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of high-quality composite repair experience on blades.
• Experience safely operating 360-degree and 2M basket platforms.
• IRATA or SPRAT rope access certification is a plus.
• Knowledge of epoxy and polyester resins, wet lay-up, and vacuum bag techniques.
• Experience handling balsa and foam core materials.
• Understanding fiberglass reinforcement and structural repair.
• Ability to safely use powered hand tools.
• Knowledge of repair specifications considering wind speeds, temperature, and humidity.
• Ability to interpret complex technical drawings and procedures.
• IT literacy (email, internet, iPad).
• Willingness to travel extensively and spend time in the field.
• Flexibility regarding scope changes.
• Teamwork and leadership skills.
• Valid driver’s license, good MVR report, and ability to drive company vehicles (must be 21+).
• Valid passport is a plus.
• Physical ability to climb ladders up to 300 feet, bend, crawl, stoop, and lift up to 75 pounds.
• Eligible US/Canadian citizens or those authorized to work in either country.
• Satisfactory criminal background check and drug-free status.
