Join Our Team as a Senior Generator TechnicianPower LTC is seeking an experienced Senior Generator Technician to support the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of generator systems that provide critical backup power for our facilities. This role is responsible for ensuring generators and related equipment remain reliable, compliant, and fully operational during emergencies. The Senior Generator Technician will perform advanced diagnostics, lead complex repairs, and support best practices across generator operations.
YourImpact as a Senior Generator Technician
In this role, you will serve as a key technical expert supporting generator reliability, compliance, and emergency readiness across Power LTC locations.
Key Responsibilities- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on standby generator systems (diesel and/or natural gas)
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system issues
- Complete generator startups, operational testing, and load bank testing as needed
- Inspect and service supporting systems, including batteries and chargers, fuel systems, cooling systems, exhaust systems, and control panels
- Inspect and troubleshoot automatic transfer switches (ATS) and related emergency power components
- Ensure generator readiness for outages, life safety requirements, and regulatory expectations
- Maintain accurate service documentation, including inspections, work orders, and repair notes
- Communicate findings, recommendations, and repair timelines to leadership and facility stakeholders
- Coordinate parts procurement and service scheduling to reduce downtime and improve response time
- Support emergency response and urgent generator issues as needed
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and professional condition
- Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout and electrical safety requirements
- Provide guidance and technical support to other team members
- Stay on track to complete annual load bank testing for all facilities within the calendar year
- Play an integral role in supporting Power LTC generator operations as outlined in the Creative Solutions Master Service Agreement (MSA)
- Assist with training, onboarding, and ongoing development of a new Generator Technician
- Perform advanced troubleshooting, identify repair needs, locate and procure parts, and support special projects as assigned
- Serve as a liaison between Power LTC and Cummins, as well as other generator manufacturers, for service coordination, warranty support, and technical guidance
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma Or GED Required (technical Training Preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of experience servicing and repairing generator systems and related equipment
- Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, and control systems
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple service needs
- Valid driver’s license with ability to travel between locations as needed
- Strong communication skills with a customer-service mindset
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical work in various environments
- Experience supporting healthcare, long-term care, or critical infrastructure environments
- Familiarity with emergency power compliance standards (NFPA 110, NFPA 70E)
- Experience troubleshooting ATS and performing electrical diagnostics
- Experience with load bank testing and generator commissioning
- Field-based role supporting Power LTC locations
- May include after-hours response, weekends, and on-call rotation based on business needs
- Work performed indoors, outdoors, and in mechanical or electrical equipment areas
- Ability to stand, climb, bend, kneel, and work in tight spaces
- Ability to safely operate tools, meters, and diagnostic equipment
- Ability to respond to urgent needs during power-related emergencies
