The Senior Energy Manager North America will lead energy strategy and execution across IREN's North American AI Data Center portfolio, with day-to-day responsibility for interconnection, infrastructure delivery, energy contracts, energy policy, regulatory approvals, and relationships with utilities and grid operators across U.S. and Canadian markets. This role serves as the regional owner of IREN's power strategy in North America, managing the process from initial interconnection applications through infrastructure delivery and energization, and representing IREN before utilities, and regulators.
The Senior Energy Manager will build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across multiple markets, and, depending on scope and seniority, may take on people leadership responsibilities as IREN's North American footprint grows.
- 10+ years of experience in energy management, power markets, or utility/regulatory roles within North American electricity markets (e.g., ERCOT, PJM, MISO, CAISO, IESO)
- Deep knowledge of interconnection processes and queues across relevant ISOs/RTOs and utility service territories
- Proven experience negotiating and managing energy contracts, including power purchase agreements (PPAs), retail supply agreements, and interconnection agreements
- Strong understanding of FERC, NERC, and state/provincial regulatory frameworks affecting large-load interconnection and data center siting
- Established relationships with utility executives, transmission owners, and grid operators across multiple North American markets
- Experience supporting infrastructure delivery for large-scale industrial or data center projects, including substations, transmission, and power generation
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Energy Policy, Economics, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA, JD, or MS) a plus
- Willingness to travel across North America as needed; prior people leadership experience a plus
- Own execution of IREN's power strategy across its North American AI Data Center portfolio, including interconnection, energy contracts, and regulatory approvals
- Lead interconnection processes with ISOs/RTOs and utilities across multiple markets, from initial application through energization
- Structure, negotiate, and manage energy contracts, including PPAs and interconnection agreements, in partnership with Legal and Finance
- Track infrastructure delivery milestones for substations, transmission, and on-site generation across North American sites
- Monitor and engage on energy policy and regulatory developments, including FERC, NERC, and state/provincial matters, affecting large-load interconnection
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with utility executives, ISOs/RTOs, and regulatory agencies across North America
