Overview

Aircraft Level - System Test Engineer (335921). The Future Long Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) is the Premier Vertical Lift military program. Bell's FLRAA aircraft will become the Army's primary assault aircraft for the next 30 years, sun setting UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters and advancing the Army's assault capabilities. The Bell FLRAA team seeks the top engineering talents to design, develop, and deliver the world’s next-generation military aircraft.

We are looking for a highly skilled Systems Test Engineer to join our teams in evaluating and validating complex aircraft subsystems and software against design and safety requirements.

Role
:
Aircraft Level - System Test Engineer(s), FLRAA. This role will be located in Fort Worth, TX (HQ) and the Classified SIL in Arlington, TX, with occasional travel to Amarillo, TX as needed.

What You’ll Do

  • Create and execute comprehensive aircraft level test plans leveraging safety analyses, failure modes, and hazards assessments from all aircraft subsystems.
  • Manage hardware and software installation, buildup, and conformity in the System Integration Lab (SIL) for next‑generation platforms.
  • Lead aircraft test readiness activities including resource management, scheduling, and artifact submission.
  • Collaborate with subsystem and software engineers to develop software and hardware systems.
  • Work in multi-disciplinary teams to define and solve problems during test and evaluation of integrated systems.
  • Adhere to and execute an effective test program within cross-functional teams.

What You Bring

  • Knowledge of one or more aircraft systems (e.g., flight controls, avionics, mission systems, electrical power, hydraulics, engines, fuel); knowledge of multiple systems is desired.
  • Experience developing and running end-to-end aircraft level tests and integration plans in a SIL environment.
  • Experience coordinating and leading cross-functional teams to execute testing plans.
  • Experience leading technical discussions on aircraft functionality, testing readiness, and hardware/software conformity with stakeholders at various levels.
  • Knowledge of communication standards such as ARINC 429, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, MIL-STD-1553 and Networking (TCP/IP, TSN, DDS); knowledge of multiple standards is desired.
  • Experience developing and running on-aircraft Functional Test Procedures (FTPs), and supporting flight tests including troubleshooting, pre/post flight briefs, and telemetry support.
  • Experience with test environment accreditation activities (model substantiation, configuration management, accreditation plan buildup and delivery).
  • Knowledge of regulatory guidance and program planning related to aircraft test programs and ensuring adherence to program plans.
  • Understanding of certification of airborne system/software processes (DO-178C, DO-297, DO-326, DO-254, ARP 4754A) is desired.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Software, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science is required;
    Mechanical or other engineering with applicable experience will be considered. Advanced degrees are a plus.
  • Must be able to gain and maintain a US Govt Secret Security Clearance.
  • Multiple positions available with experience developing and executing aircraft system test plans in a Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL/SIL) environment; 2+ years required, 10+ years highly preferred.
