A growing manufacturing organization is seeking a Quality Engineer to support production and quality assurance activities for coated steel structural components. This role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with customer specifications, international standards, and internal quality protocols.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience in coatings, corrosion testing, fabrication processes, and ISO-driven quality systems.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Control & Inspection

  • Verify component types, dimensions, and material specifications against engineering drawings and BOMs
  • Inspect surface finishes to ensure compliance with quality standards (no scratches, dents, rust, or defects)
  • Validate joint alignment, hole positioning, and assembly accuracy
  • Perform flatness, warpage, and weight inspections

Testing & Standards Compliance

  • Measure coating thickness in accordance with ISO standards and customer specifications
  • Conduct adhesion and peel testing per applicable ISO guidelines
  • Perform corrosion resistance testing (e.g., salt spray and environmental exposure tests)
  • Verify electrical continuity and grounding resistance requirements
  • Ensure compliance with relevant ISO and IEC standards

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain detailed inspection logs, compliance documentation, and test reports
  • Ensure proper labeling, traceability, and packaging standards
  • Partner with production and engineering teams to address non-conformities
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives
  • Recommend process enhancements to improve product durability and quality
  • Contribute to overall quality system improvements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in sheet metal fabrication, coatings, or structural component manufacturing
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO and IEC standards
  • Experience with corrosion testing and coating inspection methods
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

Preferred Experience

  • Hands-on experience with zinc-aluminum-magnesium (ZAM) or similar coated materials
  • Knowledge of anodizing processes and finish consistency
  • Proficiency with inspection tools such as micrometers and coating thickness gauges
  • Experience operating corrosion testing equipment
