We are developing the future of Army Aviation with the Bell Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA), part of the US Army’s Future Vertical Lift (FVL) modernization effort. We are also developing the Bell 525 Relentless and Bell's High-Speed Vertical Take-Off and Landing (HSVTOL) program, a next generation stop-fold aircraft.
Manufacturing Engineering – High Speed Machining - FLRAAWe are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Principal Process Engineer to join our aerospace manufacturing team.
This role is critical to ensure the efficient operation of our high-speed machining center, which utilizes 3, 4 and 5 axis machining for precision aerospace component production.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of machine processes, advanced manufacturing techniques, and a proven ability to optimize production workflows in a high-performance environment.
This position is onsite in Fort Worth, Texas.
What you’ll be doing as a Principal Process Engineer- High-Speed Machining:
- Design, develop, and optimize 5-axis machining processes for aerospace components.
- Influence the creation of CNC programs using advanced CAM software.
- Analyze and improve cycle times, tool paths, and cutting strategies for efficiency.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to boost productivity and reduce costs.
- Ensure accurate machine setup, calibration, and compliance with aerospace standards.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and perform root cause analysis for defects.
- Integrate probe software for setup and on-machine verification.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance and design engineers for manufacturability and quality.
- Select cutting tools, monitor tool life, and coordinate machine maintenance schedules.
- Lead process improvements, mentor team members, and promote safety and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering field.
- 10+ years of experience in Engineering working with high-speed machining. Preferably in the aerospace industry.
- CNC expertise with Fanuc, Siemens 840D, G-code/M-code, and CAM software (Mastercam, CATIA V5+, Siemens NX) required.
- Skilled in optimizing machining processes for complex components.
- Experienced in machining aluminum, titanium, and/or aerospace-grade materials.
- Proficient in GD&T required.
- Knowledge of AS9100 standards preferred.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting abilities.
- Effective communicator and team leader with ability to work independently.
NOTE:
Bell/Textron Relocation Assistance is NOT available for this role.
