The engineering teams partner closely with Manufacturing, Quality, and R&D to ensure product integrity, reliability, and continuous process improvement.
This position offers hands‑on laboratory and test engineering work, direct exposure to advanced analytical tools, and the opportunity to influence product quality across the full product lifecycle-from qualification and validation through production sustainment.
Position OverviewThe PSE Lab, Test / Failure Analysis Engineer supports manufacturing and production operations through laboratory testing, analytical evaluation, and root‑cause investigation of electronic assemblies and electro‑mechanical systems.
This role is ideal for engineers with experience in electronics testing, electro‑mechanical validation, reliability testing, materials analysis, or quality engineering who enjoy hands‑on lab work and data‑driven problem solving. You will analyze failures, evaluate solder joints and materials, support qualification testing, and collaborate cross‑functionally to improve product reliability and manufacturing robustness.
Key Responsibilities Testing, Analysis & Failure Investigation- Perform detailed inspection, testing, and analysis of electronic and electro‑mechanical assemblies to evaluate workmanship, mechanical integrity, and reliability
- Conduct solder joint evaluation and electronic assembly inspection using IPC standards
- Execute structured failure analysis investigations to identify root causes and recommend corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Support qualification, validation, and reliability testing activities, including:
- Dye & Pry
- Cross‑sectioning
- Mechanical and thermal stress evaluations
- Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory and test equipment, including:
- Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM)
- Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS)
- X‑ray inspection systems
- Optical Microscopy (OM)
- Perform material characterization and elemental analysis to support failure investigations and quality assessments
- Prepare clear, concise technical reports documenting test methods, findings, conclusions, and improvement recommendations
- Present results to Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering stakeholders
- Partner with cross‑functional teams to resolve production issues and strengthen test coverage, process controls, and product reliability
- Create, update, and maintain test procedures, work instructions, and laboratory documentation
- Ensure analytical testing and documentation comply with IPC standards
, internal quality systems, and ISO/TS requirements - Support continuous improvement initiatives related to testing methodologies, failure modes, and manufacturing processes
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in:
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Materials Science
- Chemical Engineering
- Physics
- Or a related engineering/science discipline
- 1+ year of experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, quality, test, or engineering environment performing one or more of the following:
- Electronics or electro‑mechanical testing
- Failure analysis or reliability investigations
- Qualification or validation testing
- Materials or solder joint analysis
- Hands‑on experience with one or more of the following:
- SEM, EDS, X‑ray inspection

- Working knowledge of root cause analysis methodologies (e.g., 5‑Why, Fishbone, DOE support)
- Familiarity with electronic assembly processes, soldering, and workmanship standards
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical standards (English)
- Strong technical writing skills with the ability to translate test data into actionable engineering insights
- IPC‑A‑610 - Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies (preferred, not required)
