You will be the Aeronautical Engineer, Conceptual Design, Sr Staff for the Conceptual Design team which is responsible for advancing innovative aircraft concepts.
What You Will Be DoingAs the Aeronautical Engineer, Conceptual Design you will shape the technical direction of Lockheed Martin Aeronautics’ Conceptual Design effort, mentor peers, and ensure rigorous standards across programs.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Develop, implement, and execute technical standards and associated processes for conceptual design.
- Partner with deployed Conceptual Designers to deliver high‑quality support on programs.
- Mentor and grow the next generation of Conceptual Design technical leaders.
- Collaborate across sites to align design strategies with program objectives.
- Ensure compliance with all aircraft design competencies and regulatory requirements.

Further Information About This OpportunityMUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN. This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must possess an active Secret clearance to start.
This position can be based in either Fort Worth, TX;
Palmdale, CA; or Marietta, GA.
- Engineering degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical or Mechanical discipline from an accredited university.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams on a significant effort, such as serving as a configuration or air vehicle lead.
- Expert‑level proficiency in one or more CAD systems such as Catia V5, 3DX, Solid Works, NX, or similar (Catia V5 or 3DX preferred).
- Expert‑level experience with aircraft configuration design, sizing, and synthesis.
- Experience representing the company to stakeholder audiences.
- Experience leading technical reviews.
- Experience lofting aircraft outer mold lines (OMLs) and/or flowpaths (IMLs) in support of high‑fidelity discipline analysis.
- Experience developing internal aircraft packaging models and in‑board layouts.
- Experience executing conceptual trades such as engine selection, planform selection, control effector layout, landing gear layout, etc.
- Experience creating and utilizing Multidisciplinary Design, Analysis, and Optimization (MDAO) models.
- Experience producing design space visualizations such as carpet plots, pareto fronts, and other graphics.
- Proficiency in a technical programming language such as Matlab, Python, or other.
- Adjacent aircraft experience, such as a student/private pilot license, A&P certification, or other related experience.
This position requires a government security clearance; you must be a U.S. Citizen for consideration.
Benefits & CompensationPay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position varies by state, ranging from $122,900–$216,660 in some states and $141,300–$244,835 in metropolitan areas. The position is incentive plan eligible.
