Summary of Position
Alcon is looking to hire a Sr. Package Engineer II to join our Product Design and Development Team in Fort Worth, TX. You will be responsible for designing, developing, evaluating, and specifying primary/secondary/tertiary packaging for products made at Alcon, authoring, reviewing, approving, and developing technical documents involving packaging and related studies, and identifying and implementing solutions related to packaging.
Key Responsibilities- Applying mechanical and electrical engineering principles to develop medical devices that meet customer technical/functional specifications as well as manufacturing cost/efficiency requirements
- Conducting mathematical modelling to determine if proposed designs are technically feasible
- Supporting and participating in the design, testing, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototypes; in some organizations, may also be involved with designing product-specific manufacturing processes and equipment
- Designing, developing, and specifying primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging for products and conducting testing to support project assignments
- Developing protocols, supervising testing (when applicable), authoring technical reports, resolving quality or technical issues, and identifying cost reductions/productivity opportunities through new technology, package design, or machinery
- Planning and scheduling work activities based on project and operational needs
- Coordinating testing activities with Production and QA
- Providing recommendations for strategic packaging initiatives
- Continuously learning and completing all required training; developing personal knowledge and skill
- Sharing knowledge and experience with co-workers to develop the team's overall capability
- Coordinating work activities with other Package Engineering Team members
- Adapting schedule to flexible work hours as necessary
- Coordinating with other departments to accomplish objectives
- Assisting with troubleshooting activities related to product packaging
- Working with Marketing and Production on packaging design
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +10 yrs; Assoc.+6 yrs; M.S.+0 yrs)
- The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English
- 2 years of relevant experience

- Bachelor's degree in Package Engineering, with 5–8 years' experience, of which 3–5 years in a cGMP environment
- CPP Certification
