Essner is seeking a Manufacturing Planner to support engineering compliance and business improvements in a fast‑paced, high‑mix manufacturing business to achieve safety, quality, productivity, profitability, and customer satisfaction metrics. The ideal team member will have experience in planning, process improvement, engineering document management, and project management. The team member will also support, as part of the Engineering team, precision machining, welding, assembly, chemical processing (and paint), heat treat of Aluminum, and/or sheet metal fabrication.

Reports to Technical Director.

Key Responsibilities
  • Tooling Compliance – Administer tooling compliance, control process, and maintain applicable procedures
  • Drawing Management – Maintain configuration control and management according to a standardized documented process
  • Customer Specifications – Administer/maintain customer specification documents
  • Audits – Support, as part of a cross‑functional team, process and product audits
  • Support root cause analysis for internal defects, customer non‑conformances, and internal and third‑party audits
  • Create and update engineering planning procedures
  • Control distribution of required engineering documentation
  • Engineering Change Process/Liaison Support – Review shop engineering change requests (ECRs) and demonstrate efficient closure/implementation of improvements
  • Review and update manufacturing methods based on customer engineering revisions
  • Work with manufacturing engineers to develop customer specific process templates
  • Metrics – Maintain engineering metrics for contract review, NPI process, turnbacks, etc…
  • Drive and maintain continuous improvement activities in Engineering. Support product lean events
  • Administer MRB process through Engineering in coordination with Quality MRB
  • Utilize Essner MRP system to initiate required engineering reports
  • Conduct training as required for engineering and support functions
  • Administration of the contract review and NPI process in Engineering
  • Support Special Process activities
  • Support the Quality function as required
Basic Qualifications
  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from an accredited university
  • 1‑3 years of experience in the Manufacturing Industry, preferably aerospace manufacturing (internship accepted)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprint and specification requirements
  • Proven time management skills, able to multitask
  • Proven organizational skills, communication and interpersonal abilities, and attention to detail
  • Proven experience in all MS Office programs
  • Experience in application of root cause analysis processes and tools
  • Experience in use of an ERP system
  • Knowledge in the application of continuous improvement (Lean) tools
  • Employee must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. "Green Card Holder"), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
  • Ability to read and understand precautions, safety, procedures, and other specifications as necessary to perform job function.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in the CNC Machining, Forming, & Special Process environments
  • Experience with various materials (Steel, Nickel base alloys, Titanium, Aluminum, …)
  • Knowledge in multiple aerospace OEM specifications
  • Experience implementing Continuous improvement projects
  • Experience working in a business that holds AS9100, ISO
    9001, or equivalent Quality certifications
