The Role
We’re looking for a Designer Technician to support our engineering and project teams in developing accurate, compliant, and high-quality solar lighting designs. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is eager to grow their technical design skills while gaining exposure to real‑world infrastructure projects.
You’ll work closely with project managers, municipalities, and third‑party engineering partners to develop and refine design plans for solar lighting installations, including retrofit and adaptation projects. You will also play a key role in facilitating communication across internal departments, ensuring alignment between engineering, operations, and project management teams. This position is fully office‑based and plays a critical role in ensuring that all project designs meet technical specifications, regulatory standards, and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities CAD Drafting & Design- Develop detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using Solid Works (required)
- Create, read, and interpret fully dimensioned engineering drawings using GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) in accordance with ISO standards, including ISO functional dimensioning practices
- Apply ISO‑based GD&T and functional dimensioning principles to ensure proper fit, function, tolerancing, and manufacturability of components
- Prepare layouts, technical schematics, and blueprints for solar lighting systems
- Revise and update drawings based on engineering review, functional requirements, and project restraints
- Ensure that all designs are accurate, clear, and aligned with project specifications
- Assist engineers with basic design calculations, tolerance considerations, and material selection
- Support retrofit and adaptation designs by applying functional dimensioning to accommodate existing field conditions
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards, state regulations, safety codes, and industry regulations
- Review plans and drawings for accuracy, consistency, and constructability
- Maintain version control of drawings and design documentation.
- Organize and manage project files, revisions, and technical records in accordance with quality and documentation standards
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and project management teams to resolve design discrepancies
- Communicate with municipalities and third‑party engineers to support approvals and project alignment
- 1–3 years of experience in CAD drafting, design support, or a related technical field
- Required:
Proficiency in Solid Works (candidates without Solid Works experience will not be considered) - Required:
Demonstrated experience creating and interpreting GD&T‑based drawings aligned with ISO standards, including functional dimensioning - Strong understanding of technical drawings, blueprints, and design documentation
- Proven ability to produce production‑ready drawings that clearly convey functional requirements and assembly intent
- Familiarity with basic engineering principles, electrical systems, or construction workflows
- Experience supporting designs that interface with existing infrastructure or retrofit conditions
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to work across teams and external partners
- A proactive, focused mindset with a commitment to learning and continuous improvement
- Salary Range:$55,000–$70,000 (based on experience)
