Description
You will be the Safety Management Systems Engineer Staff (level
4) for the Aviation Safety and Airworthiness SMS team which is responsible for maintaining an industry‑leading Safety Management System.
As the Safety Management System Engineer Staff you will be responsible for driving safety culture, investigations, performance monitoring, data analysis, and documentation within the SMS.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Promote a positive safety culture by surveying the workforce and delivering SMS training as required.
- Investigate employee SMS reports, coordinate with SMEs, provide feedback to originators, and track issues to closure.
- Continuously monitor SMS performance, identify improvement opportunities, and report findings to process owners and leadership.
- Collect and analyze safety data to evaluate the effectiveness of risk‑control measures.
- Conduct annual reviews of SMS documents to ensure they remain current and relevant.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited college.
- Aircraft Safety Management System, System Safety Engineering and/or Flight Safety experience.
Desired
Skills:
- Strong technical and analytical skills.
- Technical background in commercial and/or military aviation.
- Knowledge of DCMA INST 8210 and 14 CFR Part 5; familiarity with MIL-STD-882.
- Experience in applying System Safety principles, techniques, theories, and concepts to program completion.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, presentation, and written/verbal communication skills.
- Preparation and updating of reports, summaries, performance metrics, charts, and other materials for management and executive level briefings.
- Experience using root cause and corrective action process.
- Experience working with cross‑functional teams.
Security Clearance Statement:
This position requires a government security clearance; you must be a US citizen for consideration. Clearance Level: Secret.
Location:
Fort Worth, TX – Onsite full‑time at a Lockheed Martin facility.
