Position: Design Analyst I

Job Overview

Holman is a family‑owned, global automotive services organization specializing in fleet management, vehicle upfitting, and related services.

Responsibilities
  • Core Design & Specification Responsibilities
    • Develop and complete accurate, up‑to‑date specifications for vehicle up‑fits that meet customer requirements.
    • Build and maintain all quoted designs within the company’s quoting and design platform.
    • Validate vehicle chassis specifications against quoted content and identify discrepancies that may create design, fitment, or cost risks.
    • Review Bill of Materials for completeness, accuracy, and feasibility before orders move forward.
  • Fitment, Compatibility & Technical Risk Management
    • Assess fitment and compatibility between selected components, chassis types, and customer‑selected options.
    • Monitor OEM model year changes and supplier product changes to identify fitment risks and cost changes.
    • Estimate labor, parts, and miscellaneous costs for non‑standard configurations.
    • Recommend quoting strategies that balance competitiveness and financial protection.
  • Sales, Customer & Internal Partner Support
    • Guide sales, customers, and production on design requirements and technical constraints.
    • Gather operational details required to complete and validate up‑fit designs.
    • Participate in customer discussions when technical clarity or deeper expertise is needed.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for all design‑related questions.
    • Support assigned accounts, unassigned customer requests, and prospective customer requests.
  • Supplier & Product Team Collaboration
    • Work directly with suppliers for customer‑specific or non‑cataloged products to obtain specifications and fitment details.
    • Collaborate with the product team to request new parts or cataloged configurations.
    • Provide production and field feedback to the product team on catalog accuracy and labor assumptions.
  • Quoting & Pricing Accuracy
    • Provide timely and accurate up‑fit quotes that meet expectations and align with service‑level requirements.
    • Recommend alternative components, suppliers, or installation approaches when constraints require deviations.
    • Finalize complete, orderable quotes that pass cleanly into downstream ordering and production workflows.
  • Design Production Support
    • Resolve design production issues such as missing documentation and chassis discrepancies.
    • Support production throughout the build cycle by clarifying design intent and sourcing missing parts.
    • Conduct post‑build reviews to identify quoting gaps and improvement opportunities.
  • Knowledge/Training & Continuous Improvement
    • Maintain knowledge of chassis availability, OEM specifications, and market trends.
    • Attend training sessions with OEMs, suppliers, and industry partners.
    • Identify opportunities to improve quoting accuracy and reduce downstream issues.
  • Other Responsibilities
    • Perform additional duties and special projects assigned to support customer needs and organizational priorities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, automotive, mathematics, or equivalent experience in commercial truck or up‑fitting industries.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with MS Office.
  • 5+ years of experience in automotive or manufacturing environments.
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
