Quality Engineering, Mechanical Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Product Engineer
Mechanical Engineering Contractor
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineering Contractor with strong CAD expertise and hands-on experience operating metrology equipment—specifically Computed Tomography (CT) scanners. This role will support ongoing R&D, product development, and validation activities, with additional responsibilities in injection molding process support, part inspection, and documentation. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically strong, and comfortable working in a fast-paced engineering environment with minimal supervision.
Key ResponsibilitiesMetrology & CT Scanning
- Operate industrial CT scanners and related metrology equipment for dimensional analysis and internal structural evaluation of components.
- Generate and interpret 3D datasets, including voxel-based reconstructions and high-resolution scans preferably on Volume Graphics VGStudio MAX.
- Perform GD&T-based dimensional inspections and create comprehensive metrology reports.
- Identify defects, internal features, voids, and dimensional variances through CT analysis.
- Maintain scan logs, and data-storage workflows.
CAD & Mechanical Engineering
- Create, modify, and update 3D CAD models and 2D drawings (e.g., Solid Works, Creo, or equivalent).
- Perform tolerance analyses and ensure design intent is captured accurately.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support design improvements and manufacturability evaluations.
- Assist in prototype development and design verification activities.
Injection Molding Support
- Support injection-molded part evaluations, including first-article inspections and mold-validation tasks.
- Analyze molded part defects (sink, warp, flash, dimensional drift) using both CAD and CT data.
- Collaborate with tooling engineers, mold technicians, or external vendors as required.
- Support mold trials, sample coordination, and part quality documentation.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare detailed engineering reports summarizing scan results, dimensional deviations, and key findings.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, revision histories, and compliance-related data.
- Present findings to engineering teams, management, or suppliers as needed.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field; or equivalent technical experience.
Proficiency with CAD modeling and drafting software (Solid Works, Creo, or similar).
Hands-on experience operating CT scanners or similar 3D metrology equipment (CMM, laser scanning, etc.).
Strong understanding of GD&T, dimensional analysis, and tolerance stacks.
Familiarity with injection molding processes and molded-part evaluation.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and material standards.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
PreferredExperience with metrology software (e.g., VGStudio MAX, Poly Works, GOM, Zeiss Calypso, PC-DMIS).
Experience with DFM/DFA evaluations for plastic components.
Knowledge of polymer materials and molding parameters.
Prior experience in an R&D or product development environment.
Personal AttributesDetail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight timelines.
Team-oriented mindset and strong communication skills.
