Position: North Texas Wastewater Market Sector Leader

North Texas Wastewater Market Sector Leader - ( 191038 )

As part of our Water Business Group, you will help shape how communities manage water for generations to come. Your work will directly support public health, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure resilience by delivering safe drinking water, treating wastewater responsibly, and developing sustainable water supplies.

Primary Responsibilities:
Wastewater Growth and Strategy
  • Develop and drive a long‑range Wastewater vision and strategy for HDR’s North Texas Area.
  • Lead HDR’s Wastewater branding in North Texas by engaging in professional organizations allied to the wastewater market.
  • Collaborate with technical and marketing staff to pursue new projects and take a leadership role in selected key pursuits.
  • Support the development and review of scopes of work, fee estimates, project risk identification, and project schedules.
  • Coordinate area staffing and recruiting plans for key hires and assist leadership with technical or project management hires.
  • Identify technical gaps and support talent management and recruiting.
  • Apply Wastewater initiatives to the marketplace and implement national Wastewater initiatives.
  • Participate in industry associations and serve as a company role‑model in business and community organizations.
  • Develop relationships with industry counterparts in other consulting organizations.
  • Engage in client management activities and promote the Wastewater market.
  • Support marketing planning, proposals, and interviews for Wastewater projects.
  • Serve as the Client Manager for selected key clients.
Project Delivery
  • Function as a project manager on large or key projects.
  • Assist with contract review on key projects to ensure risk management, proper staffing, quality reviews, and resolution of claims.
  • Ensure the best technology and solutions are integrated into project delivery.
  • Serve as a QAQC reviewer for Wastewater projects, including plans, specifications, models, presentations, and reports.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • Master’s degree in engineering, planning, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineering License from Texas, Oklahoma, or Arkansas.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in major water infrastructure projects.
  • Minimum 10 years managing municipal water and wastewater projects and project teams.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on project engineering experience.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments.
  • Good leadership and organizational skills.
  • Experience with staff mentoring and development of multidisciplinary teams.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering, planning, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of industry experience.
  • Experienced in development and management of strategic marketing programs for planning and/or engineering services.
  • Experienced in management of a wide range of client relationships and program/project pursuits.
  • Experienced in overall staff development, including recruiting, career path, and professional growth.
  • Experienced with industry associations and maintains a visible profile in the market sector.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with regional and senior leadership teams.
  • Demonstrated commitment to HDR values and an active participation of our employee‑owned culture.
