Position: Design Engineer I

Reports To: Design Engineer II / Head of Engineering Department

Position Summary

The Design Engineer I supports the development of firearms components and mechanical systems by assisting in CAD modeling, prototyping, testing, and documentation
.

This role is focused on execution and learning
, with exposure to full product lifecycle development from concept through production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and modify 3D CAD models and drawings in Solid Works
  • Assist in development of firearms components and assemblies
  • Support prototype builds, testing, and data collection
  • Generate basic engineering drawings, BOMs, and documentation
  • Assist with tolerance stack-ups and fit/function analysis
  • Work with manufacturing to ensure designs are producible and cost-effective
  • Support troubleshooting of design and production issues
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain organized engineering files and revision control

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Solid Works (required)
  • Basic understanding of:
  • Familiarity with GD&T (preferred but not required)
  • Strong willingness to learn and work in a hands‑on environment

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or related field (preferred)
  • 0–3 years experience (internships count)

Success Profile

  • Coachable and detail‑oriented
  • Willing to be in the shop and on the floor
